The fourth international workshop of DelPHE project, “The Application of Crop Insurance to Alleviate Poverty and Promote Sustainable Agricultural Production in the Chinese Autonomous Region of Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang”, was held in CAAS, Beijing on June 22, 2009.                                                  

The theme of this workshop was “Agricultural Risk Analysis and Agricultural Insurance”, more than 40 people attended, including the officials ,professors, researchers and graduate students come from the Ministry of Agriculture of China, Department of International Cooperation (DIC) of CAAS, Purdue University, University of Manitoba, Capital University of Economics and Business, Inner Mongolia Agricultural University, Beijing Normal University, Liaoning University, RMS, AII and IEDA of CAAS.

In the opening ceremony, Prof. Qiao Zhang, the leader coordinator, gave a brief introduction to DelPHE ACIC Project.. After that, Mr. Zhongwei Liu, the director of European office in IDC, Ministry of Agriculture of China, Mr. Xiu Yang, the director of national office in IDC of CAAS, Prof. Xianxue Meng, the vice general director of AII, addressed to celebrate the progress of the DelPHE project. After group photo, eight Professors gave the presentations and the titles of their presentations were,

During the workshop, the attendees had a deeply and comprehensive discussion and communication in the subject of Chinese Crop Insurance Program’s development, the latest development of crop insurance in U.S. and the approach of crop yield risk analysis. In the end of workshop, Prof. Harry Tuo made the concluding remarks, he thought this workshop achieved great successful, reflected the latest research progress in China and world and would provide a valuable suggestion to the development of crop insurance in China.

After the workshop, the DelPHE Project partners also discussed the future work and exchange the ideas about the implementation of the project.
