Partners Attended International Conference on Risk Analysis and Crisis Response(RACR)

        The 2nd International conference on risk analysis and crisis response (RACR2009) was held in Beijing China from Oct. 19 to Oct. 21, 2009. RACR-2009 conference was organized by Risk Analysis Council of China Association for Disaster Prevention (RAC), sponsored by NSFS, SRA, SRA-E and SPA-J, and hosted by Peking University of P.R. China. The first RACR conference was held on 2007 in Shanghai.

        Many topics were involved in the conference, such as uncertainty and risk analysis, natural disaster assessment, environment risk analysis, risk and insurance, catastrophic risk management and food safety risk management. About 150 scholars from 16 countries including China, Japan, Korean, U.S., Canada, French, Germany and U.K. attended the conference. Three research fellow of the DelPHE Project (Prof. Qiao Zhang, Prof. Milton Boyd and Mr. Ke Wang) attended the RACR conference together and Prof. Milton Boyd and Ke Wang made their presentation in session L on “Concepts of Crop Insurance and Implications for Improving Crop Insurance in China” and “Corn Production Risk Analysis and evaluation in China”, respectively.

        During the conference, Qiao, Milton and Ke also made communication with other experts on crop insurance, natural hazard and risk modeling deeply.
